Peyton Manning Salary

peyton-manning-salary-2011

Under a new contract signed last month, Peyton Manning will make nearly $23 million in the 2011 NFL season. This salary makes him the highest paid NFL player in the 2011 season.

Behind Manning are Sam Bradford (St. Louis Rams – $18.4 million) and Tom Brady (New England Patriots – $18 million).

Danica Patrick Salary

danica patrick salaryAlong with rumors that Danica Patrick will move to NASAR full-time in 2012 comes spectulation that her salary will increase significantly from the $12 million she makes currently.

With the added sponsorships she’ll bring, the potential of a Sprint Cup run in 2012, and merchandise sales, her annual salary could easily surpass the $20 million mark, placing her even higher, if not at the very top, on the list of highest paid female athletes.

Where to eat at Citizens Bank Park

Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA, may be one of the best places in America to watch a baseball game and relax after a day at work talking about promo pens or the price of steel, but it’s also one of the best places to eat while watching a baseball game. Here’s a few of CBP’s best places to get a bite.

Ashburn Alley

This was one of the smartest decisions by Phillies management on a few levels. For one, the openness of Ashburn Alley allows fans to socialize and get a bite to eat or a cold beverage while still being able to watch the game in an open area. Also, naming it after a Philadelphia legend, both on the field and in the broadcast booth, gives the concept as a whole a very sentimental feeling.

Look out in Ashburn Alley at any point during the game and you will see people everywhere, in part due to the food options available. If you’re in the mood for a cheesesteak, Philadelphia staples Tony Luke’s or Campo’s are located in Ashburn Alley and offer a similar (if more expensive) product to what you’ll find at their respective establishments. Planet Hoagie offers hoagies and other sandwich options as well as numerous healthier, and even vegetarian, food options. If it’s pizza, cotton candy, a soft pretzel, or a good old Hatfield Phillies frank hot dog or sausage, you can also get those in Ashburn Alley, among even more options.

Harry The K’s

This full-service restaurant provides fans with a reason to get to the ballpark early and sit down for a nice pregame meal while still being able to watch batting practice or even the first few innings of the game. Harry spent most of his adult life sitting next to Whitey in the Phillies broadcast booth, so it is only appropriate that Harry The K’s be adjacent to Ashburn Alley in left field.

The Bull’s BBQ

Named after Phillies legend Greg “The Bull” Luzinski, The Bull’s BBQ offers traditional barbecue fare such as ribs, chicken, turkey legs, roast beef, and more. My personal favorite is the “Bull Dog”, a delicious kielbasa on a long roll. Don’t forget to say hi to “The Bull” himself, who is usually hanging out near the food line.

Chickie’s and Pete’s

While this stand is located very near Ashburn Alley and The Bull’s BBQ in right-center field, it deserves its own category. While Chickie’s and Pete’s, a Philadelphia favorite with multiple locations in the area, is known for a lot of their food, nothing compares to their famous crab fries. Besides beverages, crab fries, along with their famous cheese sauce, is the only food item available for purchase at this stand, yet the line can often be dozens deep at any point during the game. Ask any Phillies fans about crab fries, and odds are they will be raving, so it’s definitely worth trying at Citizens Bank Park. Make sure you get the cheese sauce to dip them in!

The Schmitter

Named after Hall of Famer and Phillies legend Mike Schmidt, the Schmitter is a creation of Philadelphia’s McNally’s Tavern and is sold near Section 140. The Schmitter consists of two kaiser rolls with steak, salami, lots of cheese, tomatoes, and friend onions all smothered in “special” sauce to create a decicious (but unfortunately messy) ballpark treat.

6 Golf Bag Essentials

Looking for golf bag essentials? The top golf bag essentials to ensure a winning round next time you’re on the links? You’ve come to the right place.

I’ll admit it. There’s nothing like going out for a round of golf. Whether it’s with your friends from the neighborhood, college roommates, family members, or even clients from the big medical billing company, golf is a frustrating yet enjoyable sport for all of us no matter who you’re with or where you’re playing. However, being prepared when you’re on the golf course is important, especially with company you may not know very well or want to impress. Here are a few golf bag essentials to keep on you or in your golf bag.

#1 Golf Bag Essentials – Towel

Definitely a necessity for a variety of reasons. On those scorching summer days, you will need it to wipe the sweat off of your hands and face before hitting that approach shot. Or, if you choose to go out on a muddy track, you’re going to need a towel to wipe off your clubs to keep mud off of the face.

#2 Golf Bag Essentials – Tees

You can never have enough tees. They’re inexpensive enough that you can purchase a sufficient amount at the pro shop, and you’ll be glad you did when you’re on 15 and are suddenly running low. You’d rather be the guy supplying the extra tees instead of asking others in your foursome for an extra.

#3 Golf Bag Essentials – Divot Tool

Fixing your divot is an important part of golf etiquette, and failure to do so will eventually leave the same marks on the green that you shake your head at when you first reach a green. Think of it as golf karma, as failure to fix your divot will probably end up resulting in a divot being in your way when you’re putting for an Eagle on that Par 5.

#4 Golf Bag Essentials – Ball Markers

You’re on the green after hitting a fantastic approach shot, and as you dig into your pocket to find a ball marker, you realize you left your only one at home. Like tees, you never want to be the one constantly bumming a ball marker off of someone else, so make sure you have a few with you before you leave for the golf course. An easy way to remember this is to invest in a divot tool and/or hat clip that has a ball marker magnetically attached to it.

#5 Golf Bag Essentials – “Water Balls”

Yes, the new box of shiny Callaway balls you just opened is certainly impressive, but it’s going to be a waste of money when you drill one into the pond on the 9th hole. While you can’t avoid hitting a bad shot every time (wouldn’t that be nice?), you can avoid losing your best golf balls by keeping some “water balls” handy. A water ball is usually a golf ball that’s seen better days, sometimes complete with scratches and permanent mud stains. Keep one in your pocket during the round, and you’ll probably find at least one instance where using it might be wise.

#6 Golf Bag Essentials – Healthy Snacks

If you’re like most golfers, you’ll probably grab one of these at the clubhouse or from one of the carts or “halfway houses” scattered throughout the course. However, you’ll feel much better playing golf with a Cliff bar or banana in your system instead of a hot dog or chips.

Billy Ray Cyrus National Anthem Jeff Byrd 500

Country music sensation Billy Ray Cyrus will sing the national anthem before the Jeff Byrd 500, presented by Food City.

The Jeff Byrd 500 presented by Food City takes place March 20, 2011 at Bristol Motor Speedway, in Bristol, Tennessee. The August race at Bristol, which takes places under the lights after dark, is one of the most popular races in the Sprint Cup series each year.

This is the fourth race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series in 2011. It follows the Kobalt Tools 400 (March 6), which was won by Carl Edwards.

Billy Ray, who was born in Kentucky, has sung the national anthem many times. Here he sings the national anthem at the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs’ home opener in 2010.
