With the added sponsorships she’ll bring, the potential of a Sprint Cup run in 2012, and merchandise sales, her annual salary could easily surpass the $20 million mark, placing her even higher, if not at the very top, on the list of highest paid female athletes.

Bristol Night Race 2011

The Bristol Night Race is one of the most anticipated events in the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup series schedule.

Dubbed the Irwin Tools Night Race, this year’s event will be televised live on ABC on August 27, 2011, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Kyle Busch won the 2010 event, with David Reutimann and Jamie McMurray placing second and third, respectively.

Watkins Glen Rain Delay

Rain in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York postponed Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International.

The race is scheduled to start on Monday, August 15 at 10 a.m., although there’s a 60% chance of rain in the region on Monday morning.

Kyle Busch will start on the pole.

Martinsville Green Flag Time

NASCAR Spring Cup drivers travel clear across the country, from Fontana, CA last week, to Martinsville, VA for the Goody’s Fast Relief 500 on April 3, 2011.

The Sprint Cup race green flag time at Martinsville is 1:00 pm. It will be broadcast on Fox TV. Trace Adkins will sing the National Anthem.

Kevin Harvick is coming off a win a Fontana last week in the Auto Club 400.

Mark Martin will be making his 800th Sprint Cup start. Greg Biffle and Jamie McMurray are each making their 300th start.

The first race at Martinsville took place in 1949. Recent winners incude Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Rusty Wallace, and Bobby Labonte. In 2010, the winner’s purse – which went to Denny Hamlin – was $179,225.

On Saturday, April 2, the Kroger 250 Camping World Truck series race begins at 2:00 pm.

NASCAR Sprint Cup series racing returns to California for a March 27, 2011 race, the Auto Club 400.

Past winners include Jimmie Johnson (2010), Matt Kenseth (2009), and Carl Edwards (2008).

Johnson took home a purse of $332,803 in his 2010 win here.

Since 2001, the race has been broadcast on FoxTV, with Mike Joy, Darrell Waltrip, and Larry McReynolds hosting.

Ford Motor Company has 9 wins here; Chevrolet has 5.

The top five drivers in the chase for the Sprint Cup heading into Fontana are Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman and Paul Menard. Jimmie Johnson is seventh.

Danica Patrick’s two-month hiatus from Nationwide racing to return to IndyCar began a bit earlier than expected last week at Bristol Motor Speedway. She had a run-in with Ryan Truex with 52 laps to go in the race, and was unable to continue.

Country music sensation Billy Ray Cyrus will sing the national anthem before the Jeff Byrd 500, presented by Food City.

The Jeff Byrd 500 presented by Food City takes place March 20, 2011 at Bristol Motor Speedway, in Bristol, Tennessee. The August race at Bristol, which takes places under the lights after dark, is one of the most popular races in the Sprint Cup series each year.

This is the fourth race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series in 2011. It follows the Kobalt Tools 400 (March 6), which was won by Carl Edwards.

Billy Ray, who was born in Kentucky, has sung the national anthem many times. Here he sings the national anthem at the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs’ home opener in 2010.

It was the best NASCAR finish by a woman in 61 years.

Patrick is scheduled to race in the Scotts Turf Builder 300, a Nationwide Series race scheduled for 2 pm on March 19, 2011. The race will take place at the Bristol Motor Speedway.

She will drive the GoDaddy #5 car.

Justin Algaier won last year’s event.

This race is part of Patrick’s 12-race schedule in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2011. She races full time in the IndyCar series.

The weekend’s Sprint Cup race, the Jeff Byrd 500 presented by Food City, is March 20, 2011 at 1 pm.

Who is Jeff Byrd – Bristol Motor Speedway

The 2011 spring race at Bristol is named in honor of the track’s long-time president and general manager, who died on October 17, 2010.

The Jeff Byrd 500 presented by Food City takes place at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee, on March 20, 2011.

Jeff Byrd promoted the track in a time of tremendous growth for NASCAR and the track itself.

Jimmie Johnson is the defending race winner.
