About the NASCAR Nationwide Schedule
Formed in 1982, the 2012 Nationwide series is comprised of 33 stock car races operated by the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). The races, which are widely considered to be the “minor leagues” of racing, are held in conjunction with the Sprint Cup Series, the top racing series of the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing.
Attending a NASCAR Nationwide Series race is a great way to see the amazing talent of up-and-coming competitors who aspire to become Sprint Cup drivers. Experiencing first-hand the strategy, endurance, practice, skill, and preparation that goes into stock car racing just might immediately get you hooked on this exciting sport! Many of today’s Sprint Cup drivers started out racing in the Nationwide Series, and the lower-rung Camping World Truck Series. Many Sprint Cup racers still race in the Nationwide Series, pulling double duty!
The first race of the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide series will be held on February 25th at Daytona International Speedway, and the Nationwide series season will go through November 17th, when the last race will be held at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. All races are generally held the day before the Sprint Cup series races, on the same track.
The four manufacturers represented at the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series will be Chrysler, Ford, General Motors and Toyota. Last year’s NASCAR Nationwide Series winner was Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. He will be racing in the 2012 Sprint Cup Series (Daytona 500). Last year’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year was Timmy Hill. Keep checking here on on our site for updates to the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Schedule!
