An unlikely winner took the checkered flag in the 2011 Daytona 500, a day marked by a caution flags and a huge crash that paralyzed almost half the field.
Trevor Bayne took his first Sprint Cup win in the 2011 Daytona 500, narrowly edging Carl Edwards to take the checkered flag .
Bayne, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, drove the #21 car, a Ford, for Wood Brothers Racing, the oldest team in NASCAR. Glen Wood founded the team in 1953.
He is the youngest driver to win the race. He was 20 years and 1 day old on the day of the race. It was his second NASCAR Sprint Cup start.
Bayne also competes in the Nationwide Series driving car #16 for Rousch Fenway Racing.
